Abstract
A comparative study of literary parallels is an effective method for understanding the continuity and transformation of stylistic traditions in the history of Persian literature. This research aimed at a stylistic and comparative analysis of Fani Kashmiri’s Masdar-ul-Athar (born 1023 AH) and Nizami Ganjavi’s Makhzan-ul-Asrar (born 535 AH) across three levels: linguistic, literary, and intellectual. The present study, utilizing a qualitative content analysis approach based on comparative stylistics, examined both poems. Data were collected through the descriptive-analytical study of textual evidence within the theoretical framework of layered stylistics. The findings indicated that while Fani Kashmiri adhered to the narrative structure and prosodic meter of Makhzan-ul-Asrar, he offered a distinct interpretation of Nizami’s didactic tradition. This distinction was manifested by focusing on mystical-religious themes at the intellectual level, employing more explicit expression at the linguistic level, and reducing the frequency of complex imagery at the literary level; in contrast, Nizami’s style was grounded in wisdom-based and ethical themes, artistic language, and multi-layered imagery.
